Elena Makri was born in Athens and studied design and fashion.

She is the Publisher of HELLO! Greece magazine since 2005 and the ultimate Εditor-in-Chief of VOGUE Hellas, a position she held for the ten previous years.

She has been involved in the fashion industry during the past twenty five years. During the 80’s she worked as a designer next to Greek haute couture designers, before she became a fashion editor in magazines such as PANTHEON and MARIE CLAIRE, as well as a costume designer for television and advertisement.

In 1993 she became the fashion editor for Liberis Publications and, two years later, the Editor-in-Chief of EGO magazine. She was the one who conceived the idea and then the implementation of LIFE & STYLE monthly magazine in 2000, on both editorial and managerial level.

In 2010 she republished EGO! Weekly magazine. The "Women Of The Year" Awards, recognizing and awarding both yearly and life time achievements of women in various categories of professions (i.e. scientists, athletes, theatre actors and people with distinguished humanitarian and social responsibility initiatives), was her initiative, becoming an acknowledged, important institution throughout the years. She is also a distinguished member of the ELPIDA Association of Friends of Children with Cancer.

In 2008 her first book was published – an eight years’ worth of her monthly editorial column in LIFE&STYLE, entitled Same Day Every Month (Fereniki Publications), which is it's third printing. One Life Many Times Over is her first novel which is currently in it's fourth edition.

Elena Makri is the publisher of the weekly HELLO! magazine Greece and its special editions HELLO! Fashion and HELLO! Travel. Τhis winter she launched a unique website and blog, “Elena's Diary” - the first of its kind in Greece - dedicated to good life, high fashion, art, objects of desire, special destinations and distinct personalities from all over the world.

Her current project is the creation and design of ELENA MAKRI MYKONOS, a line of clothing inspired by Classical Greek aesthetics.
